Cutting off a Limb as a Discretionary Punishment A Comparative Juristic Study // Dr. Sa'd ibn ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Al-Kharaashee

Assistant Professor, Comparative Jurisprudence Department, Higher Judicial Institute.

All praise belongs to Allah; we praise him, seek his help and seek refuge with him against the evils of our sins. Whomever Allah guides none can misguide and whomever Allah misguides none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity besides Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger; may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, his family, companions and those who follow in their footsteps until the Day of Judgment. Allah Almighty has perfected His religion, completed his blessings on His creatures and set His Sharee'ah right; it is a perfect and comprehensive law that covers all walks of life, contains all meanings of wisdom and mercy to human beings. A manifestation of Allah's wisdom and mercy is that He has revealed legal punishments for the crimes and offences that people may commit against human life, honour and property like murder, injury, defamation, theft, etc.
